Cows about Cambridge

Category : News
Date : 23 June, 2021

You may know that I painted Suffolk Elephantasia; an Elmer Elephant for a sculpture trail around Ipswich in 2019. Last year I painted another sculpture, this time a cow, for Cows about Cambridge. Entitled Cowbridges it depicts the bridges crossing the river Cam – one side of the cow shows different directions of the river from The Backs, leading on to the Mill Pools to Grantchester. The other side shows the Cam from Jesus Lock, the Boathouses, Strawberry Fayre, and the ‘Bumps’, as far as Baits Bite Lock, with Ely Cathedral in the distance. It was a real privilege to be involved as I was born and raised in Cambridge.

The sculpture trail is on from Monday 28th June – Saturday 4th September 2021, with the sculptures being auctioned after the event on Thursday 23rd September. The charity benefiting from the trail is Break; a children’s charity working across East Anglia to provide a brighter future for children and young people on the edge of care, in care, and leaving care.

You can find Cowbridges in Cambridge by the entrance of the University Arms Hotel, Regent Street.
